The practical project mountain hopping of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol took place on the weekend of October 3rd to 5th. The participants hiked on different routes through the Salzkammergut to the Almtal (Upper Austria) and met at the Hochberghaus on the Kasberg (Upper Austria) for the final gathering.
From October 3 to 5, the practical project mountain hopping took place as part of the part-time Master's program in Sports, Culture & Event Management at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences in Tyrol. The project was planned and implemented by students Johanna Huber, Sonja Schimak and Verena Gattinger. The three-day hiking event took the participants from various starting points through the Salzkammergut to the Almtal (Upper Austria) and ended together in the Hochberghaus at the Kasberg in the Almtal (Upper Austria).
THREE DIVERSE ROUTES WITH DIFFERENT STARTING POINTS
The event offered participants three different routes through the picturesque landscape of the Salzkammergut to the Almtal (Upper Austria). Two groups started their three-day tours in Scharnstein and Gmunden, while the third group undertook a two-day hike from Grünau. Despite occasional rain showers, the mood was positive throughout. “The weather couldn't stop us, everyone was well equipped and motivated,” said one participant. The final get-together at the Hochberghaus on the Kasberg in the Almtal (Upper Austria) was the perfect opportunity to review the experiences of the past few days in a convivial atmosphere.
TEAM AND SUPPORT
The practical project was implemented by students Johanna Huber, Sonja Schimak and Verena Gattinger as part of their master's degree. Johanna Huber was responsible for the budget, route planning and coordinating accommodation. Sonja Schimak took on the role of project manager, marketing and branding and also helped with route planning. Verena Gattinger took care of social media and sponsorship. The three were supported by their coach and lecturer Bastian Mensing, who was a valuable part of the team thanks to his expertise and experience.
TRULY A SUCCESSFUL EVENT
mountain hopping was not only a valuable and practical experience for the organizing team, but also an experience that the participants will remember. “The hikes were excellent and despite the weather, everyone had a great time,” said one participant. The team looks back proudly on a successful event that combined sporting activities with the chance to make new contacts and promote social experiences.
