A look at the modern Finance Lab at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol – where theory and practice are combined to explore the topic of financial investment.

The Finance Lab of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol is starting a new lecture series. With practical events and modern equipment, the topic of investing money is to be made accessible to a broad target group. The aim is to reduce fears and develop individual strategies – because investing money can be fun!

After a quieter phase, the Finance Lab of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol is being revived with fresh ideas. Prof. (FH) Dr. Dominika Galkiewicz and Prof. (FH) DDr. Mario Situm, MBA, are in charge. In the interview, Galkiewicz provides initial insights into her plans to present the topic of investing in a practical and understandable way for all interested parties in the course GELDANLAGE MACHT SPASS (INVESTING IS FUN).

PRACTICE-ORIENTED AND INTERACTIVE

The Finance Lab is designed to impress with its interactive formats. The event GELDANLAGE MACHT SPASS (INVESTING IS FUN), which starts on June 2, will cover the theoretical basics of different types of investments.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO HELP PEOPLE OVERCOME THEIR INHIBITIONS AND SHOW THEM HOW EASY IT CAN BE TO GET INTO THE TOPIC.

These can then be put into practice immediately. For example, participants will analyse the price development of shares, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) or investment funds. “It is important to overcome people's inhibitions and show them how easy it can be to get into the topic,” explains Galkiewicz. “My procedure takes into account the different personality traits of people,” she elaborates.

AN UNDERSTANDING OF RISKS AND RETURNS

In addition to the technical basics, Galkiewicz places a great deal of importance on creating an understanding of risks and returns. “It's about comparing the different types of investment and recognizing personal risk appetite. Only in this way can everyone develop the right strategy for themselves,” says the expert.

FINANCIAL LITERACY FOR ALL

The Finance Lab is aimed at a broad target group – from beginners to those with a basic knowledge. Galkiewicz would particularly like to encourage women, older people and minorities to engage with the topic. “Many women face financial challenges in old age. A well-thought-out investment strategy can help to sustainably improve their financial situation.”

MODERN FACILITIES AND NEUTRAL EXPERTISE

The newly equipped Finance Lab offers ideal conditions for practice-oriented learning. Each workstation has two monitors so that students can follow course developments and carry out simulated trading at the same time. Galkiewicz emphasizes the neutral role of the FH Kufstein Tirol: “We offer independent expertise and create a space where people can deal with financial investments safely and competently.”

Prof. (FH) Dr. Dominika Galkiewicz is leading the new lecture series at the Finance Lab and is sharing practical investment knowledge.

According to Galkiewicz, young people in particular benefit from an early introduction to the topic. “Even if financial resources are still limited, it is important to build up a basic knowledge. This way, young people will be prepared when the right moment for investments comes.”

With a fresh approach and practical solutions, the Finance Lab aims to become a central point of contact for financial education in Tyrol and the surrounding region.
