This part-time certificate program is designed for professionals and managers in the tourism industry who aim to strengthen their organization’s resilience and develop strategic, sustainable future perspectives. Through an integrative and practical approach, participants are empowered to become key drivers of a resilient tourism economy.

Skills & Competencies

Over the course of two semesters, industry experts and academics provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills to help businesses, destinations, and tourism organizations become more resilient in the face of current and future challenges. Graduates will be equipped to establish resilient structures in businesses and destinations, actively shape change processes, foster sustainable cooperation within the industry. The course focuses on individual resilience and leadership, organizational resilience and crisis management, regional resilience and sustainable destination development, as well as practical applications and strategic approaches. As Resilience Managers in Tourism, graduates help businesses and destinations become more robust and turn crises into opportunities for transformation.

Didactic Concept

Developed jointly by FH Kufstein Tirol and FH Salzburg, this blended learning program combines interactive in-person sessions with online self-study. Participants gain foundational knowledge through e-learning modules, which are then deepened through case studies, group projects, and best-practice examples during in-person sessions.

Upon successful completion, participants receive a university certificate with ECTS credits.

Prerequisites

  • Completed tourism education (apprenticeship or 3-year HBLA) OR
  • Professional experience in tourism or related sectors (e.g., tour operators, cultural & leisure enterprises)

Certificate

  • The course leading to the qualification of Certified Resilience Manager in Tourism, worth 16 ECTS credits, lasts two semesters and ends with a seminar thesis.
  • The two modules "Operational Resilience in Tourism" and "Regional Resilience in Tourism" can be earned as micro-credentials of 5 ECTS credits each by taking and passing the exam for each module. These modules can be completed without attending the entire course. If you attend without taking the exam, you will receive a certificate of attendance.
