Current progress in the Tyrol flagship project Digitalisierung.Tourismus strengthens the regional employer brand in the Achensee region.

Attracting skilled workers with digital solutions: The lighthouse project Digitization.Tourism strengthens the employer brand of the Achensee region. AI-supported video production and social media campaigns help companies present themselves attractively – an innovative approach to modern recruiting.

How can a region be specifically positioned as an attractive place to live and work for skilled workers? And which digital solutions help companies present themselves as attractive employers? These questions are the focus of the Tyrolean flagship project Digitization.Tourism, which has been implemented under the direction of the Kufstein University since February 2024. The aim is to establish the Achensee region as a modern and future-oriented workplace for (tourism) professionals and to strengthen it with innovative employer branding measures.

The 18-month research project is being carried out in cooperation with the Achensee Tourism Association and joobster GmbH and is anchored in the Leadership & Business Management and Marketing & Communication Management degree programs at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. The focus is on the development and practical testing of digital recruiting strategies – including an innovative app for automated video production and employer branding videos for social media.

EMPLOYER BRAND VIDEOS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA

A core component of the project is a series of professional employer branding videos, which are published on the social media channels of the Job-Life Achensee platform. These short videos provide authentic insights into the day-to-day work of various companies and show the many opportunities offered by living and working in the Achensee region. As part of the project, test companies can set up their own digital video library – with short clips that can be flexibly combined for new videos. These include recordings of employees in their daily work, drone images of the working environment or statements from managers, but also videos from the Achensee region.

The aim of these videos is to create a unified and distinctive employer brand for the Achensee region that appeals to skilled workers. “The first video posts on social media have already achieved good reach,” reports the project team. The development of the channels is still ongoing, but interest in the new recruiting methods is growing.

AUTOMATED VIDEO PRODUCTION WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

One of the most exciting innovations of the project is the further development of an app for automated video production, which is being developed by the IT experts at joobster GmbH. The goal: to make video creation as easy and efficient as possible.

The app uses artificial intelligence (AI) to compile a complete video from the basic video libraries of the test companies based on a request – for example, “create a video for me for the job as a cook”. In doing so, relevant clips can be automatically combined and supplemented with suitable video overlays. Example: If a person says in the video, “After work, I like to go swimming in Lake Achensee,” the app automatically displays a shot of a swimmer in the lake. AI can also be used to generate subtitles. Of course, the result can always be edited manually if necessary. 

This automation significantly reduces the workload for companies, enabling them to create employer branding videos quickly and without prior knowledge.

VIDEO TRAINING FOR TEST OPERATORS – STORYTELLING & TECHNICAL TIPS

In order to prepare the businesses for video production in the best possible way, training courses are offered by experts from the Kufstein University, joobster and Achensee Tourism.

Participants learn:

  • How to create high-quality videos with your own smartphone and simple equipment (e.g. gimbal, microphone)
  • What matters in light, sound and storytelling
  • Which technical tips make production easier

“The training sessions take away my fear of having to shoot long and elaborate videos,” reports one participant. ”With the right equipment and the app, video shooting and editing are really easy and, above all, fast!”

HIGH DEMAND & NEW TEST OPERATIONS

There is great interest in the lighthouse project Digitization.Tourism: 17 test companies have already joined the project, and 14 people have taken part in the video production training. An information event was recently held to get even more companies excited about the concept. It was made clear how moving job ads can modernize recruiting in the tourism industry and make it more effective.

The project will continue until the end of July 2025. Until then, the app will be further optimized, new videos produced and the Achensee employer brand strengthened.
