Students on the Business Management degree program at Kufstein University visited the transport company LKW Walter in Kufstein in mid-January. A great opportunity to get to know the internationally active company from the inside.
The tour began with an interesting overview of the Walter Group's structure and business activities. The group of companies employs more than 5,000 people from over 40 nations at its two sites in Wiener Neudorf and Kufstein. Its core business is the Europe-wide handling of full truckload transports by LKW Walter and the trading and rental of containers by Containex. It was interesting to learn how combined transport by rail and ship can significantly reduce CO2 emissions. There were also insights into the diverse occpuational profiles and career opportunities within the group of companies.
INSIGHTS INTO THE WORLD OF WORK
The students were particularly impressed by the exclusive tour of LKW Walter's large offices. They were given an insight into the day-to-day work of the employees and learned about the training opportunities offered by the in-house Walter Academy. Finally, the company presented its history, which has taken a number of surprising turns since 1924. The many questions from the students showed how exciting history can be.
The afternoon came to a successful conclusion in the in-house lounge with snacks and drinks. Two alumni of the Corporate Management degree program at the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein, who had joined the Walter Group after graduating, joined the group to tell the first-semester students about their very personal experiences of everyday working life.
