Local students and exchange students met in the auditorium to talk about cultural differences and similarities.

The Kufstein University of Applied Sciences offered exchange students from 21 countries the opportunity to present their home country at the Exchange Fair. With creative stands, culinary delights and informative talks, the event provided a valuable opportunity to find out more about future semesters abroad.

A very special event took place at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences in mid-November 2024: The Exchange Fair, where international students presented their home countries and universities. The auditorium of the University of Applied Sciences was transformed into a lively centre of cultures, where students had the opportunity to learn more about the various exchange programmes and the cultural characteristics of the countries in which their fellow students were studying.

CULINARY WORLD TOUR

The stands, which were organised by the international students themselves, were lovingly and creatively designed. Each stand represented a different country and was decorated with all kinds of memorabilia, photos, maps and typical souvenirs. On the pinboards, visitors not only found interesting information about the universities and degree programmes in the respective countries, but also impressions of student life at the partner universities. The stands invited visitors to browse and discover, while the students on site patiently answered questions and shared their experiences.

A particular highlight of the Exchange Fair was the culinary variety, which perfectly emphasised the international character of the event. Many stalls offered traditional dishes and drinks that the students had lovingly prepared. The exotic drinks and desserts were particularly popular, offering visitors a real taste of the international students' home country. Tasting and feasting together contributed significantly to the relaxed and exuberant atmosphere and promoted intercultural exchange.

INSIGHTS INTO FUTURE STAYS ABROAD

In addition to the culinary delights, the Exchange Fair was also a great opportunity for local students to find out about their future semester abroad. Many took the opportunity to speak directly with the exchange students and find out more about life at the partner universities. For many, it was a welcome chance to make friends in advance that they could continue to cultivate later during their semester abroad. These personal contacts are particularly valuable when it comes to finding your feet more quickly in a foreign country and feeling at home there.

For many, the opportunity to discuss the cultural differences and similarities between the various countries and to gain initial impressions of where they could spend a semester abroad was particularly exciting. The international students shared their personal experiences, from choosing a university and organising their stay to tips for life abroad.

The atmosphere was consistently positive and characterised by enthusiasm. The students used the Exchange Fair to network, learn more about other cultures and plan their own experience abroad. It was a day full of exciting encounters and enriching conversations that further promoted intercultural understanding and exchange at the FH Kufstein Tirol.
