Table tennis, a film costume contest, exciting matches – the first Table Tennis Tournament at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol offered students an entertaining and sporty evening.
On January 16, 2025, the Table Tennis Tournament took place for the first time in the Festsaal (Festivities Hall) of the Kufstein University. The aim was to create an inclusive and entertaining sports event for students of the higher education institution. A total of 20 students took part. While the doubles teams only played one round, the singles players first had to prove themselves in a preliminary round before moving on to the knockout phase.
The event was organized by six students from the full-time bachelor's degree program in Sports, Culture & Event Management.
SPORT FOR EVERYONE – AN INCLUSIVE EVENT
Table tennis was chosen as the tournament sport to enable the widest possible participation. The event was open to all students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, regardless of their sporting experience. In addition, attention was paid to barrier-free access and additional activities besides the tournament.
COSTUMES FIT FOR THE big SCREEN ON AND OFF THE FIELD
The Table Tennis Tournament was more than just a competition – it was held under the theme of the movie. Participants and spectators were able to express their creativity under the motto Movie. A special highlight was the Movie Costume Contest, in which the jury – consisting of the project team – assessed costumes based on creativity and sustainability. The sustainability assessment was carried out as part of the Green Event Basic certification.

There were many exciting matches.
Emma Vermaercke convinced with her Lightning McQueen costume and prevailed against creative competitors such as Indiana Jones or The Guard from Squid Game. To enhance the movie atmosphere, the association ZeitFrei offered fresh popcorn, while the Festsaal (Festivities Hall) was decorated with borrowed movie posters.
