Students at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol developed marketing strategies for an online course offered by the New Health Foundation. The course is designed to encourage participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle, to question their own habits, initiate change and inspire those around them.
The New Health Foundation develops various programs to help people across Europe adopt a healthier lifestyle. In a world where social media often conveys extreme health ideals, the New Health Foundation focuses on scientifically sound and practical concepts. In collaboration with the Austrian branch of the European Network of Sports Education (ENSE) and the Healthy Lifestyle Network Europe (HLNE), the programs are being networked across Europe to reach people. The project is also supported by the European Union.
As part of a practical project, students Manuel Bader, Marco Forcher, Emma Heckl, Julian Schüller and Andrea Tadic from the bachelor's degree program in Sport, Culture & Event Management developed marketing approaches to increase the reach of the Europe-wide online course Healthy Lifestyle Promoter. They were in direct contact with Iris Spanjol, the director of ENSE, and were supported by their project coach Louis Moustakas, Prof. (FH) for Sports Management & Sports Sociology.
SUCCESSFUL MEASURES & FRESH IMPULSES
The practice project team developed a target group-oriented marketing concept to raise awareness of the online course. The central measures included:
- Direct marketing: cooperation with sports clubs, fitness studios and physiotherapists in the Kufsteinerland region
- On-campus promotion: posters and advertising on the screens of the FH Kufstein Tiro
- Digital distribution: information campaigns via WhatsApp groups and social networks
- Presentations: presentation of the course in various lectures
During the project, it became clear that many interested parties would like additional interactive learning units. Therefore, the team organized two workshops, which took place on January 17 and 21, 2025 at the FH Kufstein Tirol.

Participants received practical inspiration on topics such as sports, nutrition and mental health. The students themselves took on the role of lecturers and designed interactive learning units. The consistently positive feedback confirmed the added value of these supplementary offers.
LONG-TERM IMPACT
After successfully completing the online course, participants receive the Healthy Lifestyle Promoter certificate. The aim is to integrate the acquired knowledge sustainably into everyday life and to pass it on to others. In total, the students have already convinced 90 people of the course content. With the practical project, the students not only contributed to health promotion, but also tested in a practical way how targeted marketing can successfully communicate socially relevant content.
