Reinhold M. Karner summarizes his experiences with crises and successes and gives practical advice to the audience at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol.

With personal openness and practical strategies, Reinhold M. Karner inspired over 100 guests at his lecture at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol. The entrepreneur and mentor showed how to use setbacks as an opportunity for a successful new start.

On November 27, 2024, the ballroom of the FH Kufstein Tirol became the setting for an inspiring evening as part of the Management Forum Kufstein event series. More than 100 students, experts and interested parties came to experience the well-known top-selling author, entrepreneur and mentor Reinhold M. Karner live. Karner captivated the audience with his inspiring lecture on the art of turning defeats into successes. A subsequent panel discussion and get-together rounded off the event.

FROM SETBACKS TO SUSTAINABLE SUCCESS

Karner opened his talk with a moving account of the most difficult moment of his life: the loss of his company and the existential crisis that followed. He described the insolvency as a “near-death experience” that motivated him to radically rethink his approach and make a successful new start. “A crisis is not an obstacle, but an invitation to realign our thinking and recognize opportunities where others see only problems,” said Karner.

With a mixture of personal stories and practical tips, he made it clear that setbacks are an unavoidable part of life – and at the same time offer the chance for a fresh start.

VALUE ORIENTATION AS THE KEY

Karner showed the audience concrete strategies for overcoming crises. These include:

  • the focus on long-term goals,
  • the establishment of a supportive network and
  • the ability to recognize opportunities even in difficult situations.

He emphasized the central role of a value system, clear goals and resilience for a successful restart. In particular, he highlighted the importance of inner courage and a reliable support network.

DIALOG WITH THE AUDIENCE

Prof. Dr. Peter Dietrich and Prof. DDr. Mario Situm, MBA, moderated a lively panel discussion following the lecture. The audience took the opportunity to ask Karner questions, which he answered with professional advice and personal insights.

He gave an impressive account of the lessons he has learned from difficult times and the importance of learning from crises and constantly reinventing yourself.
