The students gained practical insights into sustainability management at the Wattens paper mill.
Students on the Energy & Sustainability Management master's degree program at the Kufstein University had the opportunity to visit the Delfort Group's Wattens paper mill. With over 460 years of experience, delfort wattenspapier is a specialist in the field of specialty papers.
The company is based in picturesque Wattens in Tyrol and exports its products to over 120 countries worldwide. The excursion offered students exclusive insights into the company's Energy & Sustainability Management. Katrin van Herck, Sustainability Manager, and Simon Tschernitz, Project Specialist Energy and former student of the Kufstein University in the field of energy management, provided comprehensive information on the major sustainability issues of an internationally operating company.
IMPRESSIVE TOUR OF THE PRODUCTION FACILITIES
The students learned first-hand how sustainability management is implemented, what tasks and challenges are involved and which topics and stakeholders are important. These practical insights were particularly valuable for the prospective energy and sustainability managers. Another highlight of the excursion was the impressive tour of the paper mill's modern production facilities. Here, the students were able to experience the specialty paper manufacturing process up close and take a look behind the scenes.
