The Management Forum Kufstein is an initiative of the degree programs International Business & Management, Marketing & Communication Management, and Leadership & Business Management. It focuses on current marketing and business issues while providing insights into strategic and operational management.
This time, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Franz Fischler, Chairman of the IHS (Institute for Advanced Studies) in Vienna and advisor to various committees. In his talk, he will discuss the importance of strengthening the political center as the foundation of a liberal democracy.

BOARD MEMBER OF THE IHS (INSTITUTE FOR ADvanced STUDIES) IN VIENNA AND ADVISOR TO VARIOUS COMMITTEES
Franz Fischler was born on September 23, 1946 in Absam, Tyrol, Austria. After graduating from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna with a degree in agriculture in 1973, he worked in research until 1979.
In 1979, Franz Fischler joined the Tyrolean Chamber of Agriculture, where he initially worked in the fields of environmental protection, education, culture and landscape planning before being appointed director in 1984.
In 1989, Franz Fischler was appointed Austrian Federal Minister for Agriculture and Forestry. In this role, he played a major role in the accession negotiations for Austria's entry into the European Union. From 1995 to 1999, Franz Fischler was EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development. From September 1999 to 2004, he was also responsible for European fisheries policy.
Since the end of 2004, Franz Fischler has been mainly involved in advisory and teaching activities and giving lectures. Most recently, he served as President of the European Forum Alpbach for 10 years.
He is currently Chairmen of the Board of the IHS (Institute for Advanced Studies) in Vienna and works as an advisor on various committees.
