After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol, Laura Schwingshandl started her career in marketing and now works at Moser Holding AG in Innsbruck, where she is the supervisor of the social media channels and supports marketing, sales and editorial work.
STUDENT DAYS: FOCUS ON CREATIVITY AND PRACTICE
Laura Schwingshandl made a conscious decision to choose her degree program, which was shaped by her interest in creativity and her goal of working as a creative director. The practice-oriented curriculum of the Kufstein Uni was a lasting source of inspiration for her. She has particularly positive memories of the practical projects in which students worked on real customer orders. One highlight was the development of a “rebranding concept for Victoria's Secret” as part of the “Branding & Positioning” course.
AN UNFORGETTABLE SEMESTER ABROAD IN BARCELONA
Laura describes the mandatory semester abroad as one of the most formative experiences of her degree program. Her time at the Universitat Abat Oliba CEU in Barcelona was “unique and unforgettable,” despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. She emphasizes the importance of taking advantage of this opportunity and sees the mandatory study-abroad phase as a major advantage of the program.
STARTING YOUR CAREER
During her internship, Laura gained her first practical experience at Stihl, where she worked for eight months. After that, she continued her career as a junior marketing manager at MPREIS. There she was responsible for offline marketing tasks, such as designing print materials, as well as digital marketing, such as maintaining the website and social media channels.
TIPS FOR YOUR DEGREE PROGRAM AND CAREER
Based on her previous experience in marketing and communications, Laura shares three key insights:
- Try out variety: Marketing offers numerous specializations. Laura recommends getting to know different areas to discover personal strengths and interests.
- Teamwork and presentations: Working in groups and presenting projects as part of the degree program helped her develop important skills for her professional life.
- Strong foundation: The degree program at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol provided her with a solid basis for starting her career. She would choose this path again anytime.
